Curaçao is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Healthcare combines a main hospital with community-based general practice and private clinics, organised along Dutch lines with referral links across the Kingdom.
Why Curaçao for clinical research
The chronic-disease burden that dominates Caribbean healthcare - obesity, type 2 diabetes and hypertension - is a daily clinical reality in Curaçao, and most patients here have never been offered a place in a clinical study. For sponsors, that combination - genuine disease burden, largely research-naive patients, and concentrated care pathways - is exactly what makes the region worth a serious look.
