Cuba operates a state-run, universal health system with one of the region's strongest primary care traditions and a long-standing domestic biotechnology and medical research sector.
Why Cuba for clinical research
The chronic-disease burden that dominates Caribbean healthcare - obesity, type 2 diabetes and hypertension - is a daily clinical reality in Cuba, and most patients here have never been offered a place in a clinical study. For sponsors, that combination - genuine disease burden, largely research-naive patients, and concentrated care pathways - is exactly what makes the region worth a serious look. PCRA Caribbean is building its member-site network in Cuba now: sites join by choice, are onboarded to a common ICH-GCP standard, and are matched only to studies they can genuinely deliver.
